YBEC provides experiential and adventure-based programming for 6 special education programs in 3 area school districts. These programs support the districts’ emotional support and learning support classrooms by providing specialized activities as a incentive for students to perform well in their academic classes. The activities that we offer include rock climbing, rappelling, mountain biking, orienteering, high and low challenge courses, canoeing, kayaking, surfing, skiing, horseback riding, caving, skateboarding, and extended overnight camping experiences. We also offer experiential based trips like our healthy living trip, etiquette trip, community service projects, and visits to local museums.
These challenging activities provide students an opportunity to enhance their leadership and team building skills as well as increase mental and physical endurance. These skills can translate into increased self confidence and motivation to do well in the traditional classroom.
Tell me and I will forget. Show me and I may remember. Involve me and I will understand.
